I would be lying if I said the last 12 months had been easy! After my knee injury I found I had to start all over again with my fitness not only that, but I had to try and get my Knee working again after the break!

In the beginning I found myself daily feeling the same I would wake up in the morning and say to myself today was the day I’d get started on the road to recovery and an hour in each day would end up the same I’d be back sat on the sofa with some kind of comfort food telling myself it was too soon!!
The trouble is it is so easy to get stuck in the endless cycle of doubt. You come to believe that because you can't get up and moving that somehow there is something wrong with you and then that is when all the negative thoughts start to take over.
So many times, this year I have been in tears through anger and frustration at myself because I start out full of hope that today will be the day only to let the self-doubt take over.
So how can you break this cycle I hear you cry?!

TAKE IT SLOWLY!
This is the best piece of advice I can give. So many of us (especially me!) want fast results but to go in thinking you can change everything within a day you are only going to end up disappointed.

It was after my Snowdon adventure when my knee gave out again that i realised that
actually taking a bit of time off wouldn't kill me and that my body needed the break. This wasn't me being a defeatist though at the time it felt like it.
So I took the summer off slowing it right down and taking the time to build it up again.
In October I decided the time for rest was over and that I needed a new challenge to get me going.
My weight had gone up again due to lack of exercise, so it was time to seize the day and push on.
So, I have started to embark on a new challenge to hike the highest peaks in whatever city county country I am in!
Sounds a bit of a nutty idea but it not only ensures adventures but also helps me to focus on something other than my lack of will!
And it is working too! while I’m looking for my next peak I’m slowly building up the fitness and focusing on how I will tackle my next big challenge while all the time taking n mini challenges like walking through the desert or taking a hiking in the hills. All of which is not only helping me build up my physical fitness but also my mental fitness helping to swat away the negative thoughts and self-doubt replacing it with the positive feelings of

I can do this and the sense of total accomplishment once I hit my target :-)
So, what’s next?
Well that would be telling!
But whatever it’s going to be it going to be epic!!
Now its your turn get up – get out there and start finding your adventure within!
