For years I have yoyo’d with weight and when it piles on you just feel so low, motivation goes out the window, you get stuck in a cycle of self deprivation.
The worst part most people just don’t get it, they either think your lazy or have no self control where food is concerned.
Now this in part is slightly true well the second part anyway! self control does go out the window but not because we make a conscious decision to do it more that our unconscious takes over that’s why you sometimes eat and have no recollection in doing it!

You see, we go in to a type for unconscious cycle where getting up to exercise seems impossible or may be you have the intention to do it but you end up talking yourself out of it as its easier for you to go eat and sit down again. This is a condition called The Lethargy Cycle.
You suffer from self-defeating negative thoughts which make you feel depressed and unmotivated
You will feel pain where there isn’t any your emotions will distort your perceptions and make it real.
These feelings will run in a circle making it feel impossible to break.

It all sounds impossible doesn’t it how can we break this cycle?
There are 4 ways that I use to help me with this
Give Yourself A Reward - `Getting fit doesn’t mean killing yourself with unrealistic diets as they end up being a short live and you end up falling back in to old habits fast.
Set Goals - goal setting is a great way to get motivated but don’t make them to big make them achievable, start with small walks may be to the end of the road then go further try a mile or even two build it up in stages. You can also sign up for a virtual challenge like ‘Race At Your Pace’ or ‘The Conqueror’ these challenges help by helpping to motivate you so you win the challenge medal at the end of your given distance.
Don’t Bottle It Up - when you start to fall backwards have some support weather it be a family member or a friend but only choose someone who will elevate you not bring you down even if they don’t mean to.
Find Your Tribe - Remember you are not the only person looking for the motivation to start your journey. Find you tribe people who have the same interests weather it be hiking - swimming or biking what ever your interested in find somewhere near to you. It may feel daunting at the start so do your research hit Facebook or instagram find others like you reach out and ask for advice. Support networks are so so important.
These are just 4 simple ways to help break you out of the lethargy cycle to get you going on your adventure journey.
I believe in you, you can do it At the end of the day if I can do it so can you!
Until Next Time
Just keep moving forward
