Saturday Mini Adventure With The Girls

Updated: Jul 23

Recently I’ve been working my tail feathers off and it wasn’t until one of my girl friend reminded me that sometimes you just need to take time out that I decided to heed her words.

So it was decided that we should go on a mini adventure to the beautiful Dendera Temple but only could I go and visit this amazing temple but it gave me a fantastic opportunity to do a Heygo Trip at the same time so I could share the day with everyone.

So, myself and my two girl friends Amanda and Natashia piled in to my car and off we went choosing to take the East Bank road as it was easier once I’d picked the girls up and also the police checkpoints simpler to get through with what is considered tourists in the car!

Giving myself plenty of time to get there before the tour we set off now this road was a lot bumper than I remembered and poor Amanda at times felt she was onset of a Dukes of Hazzard movie!!

Just before Qena the road changed and I started to wonder why the traffic was all coming at me only to realise I’d gone down a one way part of the new bypass we had just entered!! Lucky for us it is kind of normal for Egyptians to drive the wrong way down a one way street so all good!! 🙄

Getting in to Qena we had 30 minutes to get to the temple before login on to Heygo! I thought plenty of time that was until the layout of the road was not what I remembered!!!

Racing through the streets as 10mph with 9KM to do in now 15mins seemed a challenge but we made it with only a minute to spare!!

The temple was every bit as amazing as I remembered from my last visit but this time no visitors except for us 😢

It was so sad to see but then again a very big advantage as this gave us the opportunity to see so much more than we would on a usual trip here.

We took in this amazing temple with all its reliefs one of which was a picture of the famous Cleopatra not quite Elizabeth Taylor but still amazing 🤩

We passed the area known as Cleopatras bath 🛀 I have to say a lot of ass milk would of been needed to fill this bath if it’s the same one spoken about from history!! 😳

Later on we where allowed down in to the bath area for a virtual swim 😂

Entering the temple you are struck by the magical colours that are still present after two thousand years! Vivid blues and reds depicting the famous zodiac.

ree

At the back of the inner sanctum we were allowed to enter the crypt with the famous Dendera lights bulbs! Ok so they aren’t real light bulbs but crikey they do look like it!! 😂

ree

It was then I was allowed to enter a crypt that not many people had entered before I took a chance as i thought may be we will have signal for my intrepid virtual voyagers maybe not imagine my surprise we have a full reception!!

Now getting in to the crypt was a challenge but getting out OMG! To say I looked ridiculous would if been an understatement 🙄 lets say the hole was small and my legs to short to get back out!! All I could do was slither out of the hole on my belly!! Yes that’s right on my belly this had me crying with laughter and the poor temple guardian wondering what on earth was this crazy woman was doing!!

After this we went up top the roof of the temple taking the beautifully decorated stairway once at the top we where shown in to rooms with depictions of the isis and osiris as well as the famous Dendera zodiac

After our amazing visit and a few group pics later we tipped the guardians and left to face the gauntlet of souvenirs shops! If you want scarves or embellished table cloths this is the place to come!

Getting to the car we headed for the exit for our journey home.

Now you‘d think this was the end of our story ‘oh no‘ this was only half of it!!

Approaching the check point out of the temple it was noted that we weren’t Egyptian even though we have Egyptian ID’s I think we just look too for foreign and would require a police escort out of the city of Qena! That’s right people we three ladies had an escort out of the city as we is that important 😂😂

Once we had bid a fair well to our chaperones and telling them not to worry we knew the West Bank road so much better than the East we set off for home taking in the beautiful desert road set against the afternoon sun 🌞

In no time at all we where only 5km from Luxor it was then when the problems really started!

The car started to loose power and it got progressively worse the closer to Luxor we got! it was when we entered the main road home that the car stopped completely luckily for us we had stopped right next to a car mechanic!!

ree

As we were so close to home

we could call friends to come help they came to pick us up and take us to their house while we waited for poor Terrance the Terrios aka our car to be fixed.

After two hour a new fuel pump was fitted and we where able to finish our adventure aka get home! 🙄

Sitting here now I’ve come to realise how epic our little adventure was but also how rejuvenated I feel! The day may of had some ups and downs but boy it was fun!

So no matter where you are in the world get out there and take a mini adventure you won’t be disappointed 😘

Until Next Time

Keep It Adventurous
